I found this one in the Times too. A local jazz artist, Carol Alban, is hosting a benefit concert for an 11-year-old Oakland boy, Christopher Rodriguez, who was hit by a stray bullet while taking a piano lesson. Organizers are expecting a huge crowd to raise funds for Rodriguez and his family.
The concert is this Saturday at 8 p.m. at Chapel of the Chimes, 4499 Piedmont Ave. Suggested donations for tickets are $10 or $20. More information is available at http://www.myspace.com/benefitconcertinfo.
