Summer idea: Picnic

It's summer. School's out. The weather's great. People should be out doing stuff. There's so many things to do, sometimes it's hard to decide which. That's the little predicament we found ourselves in this morning.

After over an hour of debating how we wanted to spend our "family day" together, my mom, dad, sister and I finally decided to spend the afternoon in Tiburon. For those who might not be familiar with the San Francisco Bay Area, Tiburon is this gorgeous little tourist trap town on the Marin coastline with panoramic views of the Golden Gate Bridge and the San Francisco city skyline. Every summer since I could remember, my family always makes the hour-long drive there to eat, take a walk along the beach and browse through their little boutiques.

Today we packed a few sandwiches and some peach iced tea and picnicked along the waterfront. It was perfect day outside, warm with a nice sea breeze. Some fellow picknickers were even nice enough to offer us half of their fresh watermelon. I guess a beautiful day brings out the best in people.

We even had a jumping contest. It took about a dozen tries (and several weird looks from onlookers) just to get these pictures. I know we look stupid, but it's actually a LOT of fun!!! Try it some time.
So if you're looking for something fun to do on a sunny summer afternoon, pack a sack lunch, spread out a blanket and have a nice picnic!
