Horror movies are scarier in other languages!

I just saw The Orphanage (directed by Pan's Labyrinth director, Guillermo Del Toro) with Karina. It's a scary Spanish movie with English subtitles about a woman who moves into the orphanage where she grew up. Of course, it's a terrifying haunted orphanage with scary, dead, masked children running around. It was definitely a good psychological thriller.

Movies are definitely scarier in other languages with subtitles. Actually, in any genre of film, I prefer subtitles to dubbing. Dubbing is just creepy and distracting. I keep wondering what the real actors' voices are like and why the dub actors always overemphasize the inflections in their voices.

Anyway, I really like horror movies like Del Toro's because it's more psychological than teenagers being chain-sawed in the woods.
