Quarantine Life: Day 42, Shelter-in-Place Extension

Six Bay Area counties and the city of Berkeley today announced that they would extend and revise the current shelter-in-place orders through the end of May. The previous order was scheduled to expire May 3, but it looks like we’ll have to stay home for an additional four weeks after that, at least. The announcement today said that the revised orders will include limited easing of certain restrictions for lower-risk activities. We won’t know what those changes are exactly until the official details are released later this week.

Our feelings on the extension: We want to get back to our normal lives as soon as it’s safe to do so. We miss seeing our family and friends. At the same time, the most important thing now is to keep people safe and healthy. That means being prudent and not reopening communities prematurely. So, we’ll continue to follow the social distancing guidelines with the faith that these sacrifices now will mean a safer future for us all.

This daily blog post series is our way of sharing our experience with you, our readers. We’ll talk about our daily routines, adjustments to working from home, recipes based on limited ingredients and any other topic that comes to mind. It’s our way of connecting with the “outside” world, while also giving us the opportunity to look within and reflect on what we’re experiencing and how we’re feeling. Thanks for your interest in sharing this journey with us. Stay tuned and be well.
