Quarantine Life: Day 11, Gratitude
I saw an interesting question on Twitter today asking people what they won’t take for granted after this is all over. A lot of people’s responses were about hugging friends and visiting elderly parents. That got Grant and I talking about what our responses would be. We do miss our family and friends. We also miss being able to go to the grocery store and finding everything we need. We miss not having to worry about whether our groceries, takeout, mail and packages are contaminated. We miss spontaneously going out for dinner. We miss getting in a car, going to work and interacting with other people. These are all things that we’ll be able to have again one day and will appreciate a little more.
We also realize we have a lot to be grateful for even now in this strange, new, quarantine life we’re living. We feel strong and healthy. We have more than enough food and supplies to last us for weeks. We continue to get paid and have the opportunity to work from home when many others cannot. And at the core of it, Grant and I are together, which automatically makes anything bearable.
This daily blog post series is our way of sharing our experience with you, our readers. We’ll talk about our daily routines, adjustments to working from home, recipes based on limited ingredients and any other topic that comes to mind. It’s our way of connecting with the “outside” world, while also giving us the opportunity to look within and reflect on what we’re experiencing and how we’re feeling. Thanks for your interest in sharing this journey with us. Stay tuned and be well.
