What the Chuck?! How to Clean Them

I've owned my pair of Converse/All-Stars/Chucks or whatever you want to call those shoes for over 4 years.

I want to throw away my old shoes. I should throw away my old shoes. I won't throw away my old shoes. Even though they're old and have cat hair all over them (I accidentally left them in the garage and my cat Oliver decided to shed all over them), I'm not going to throw them away.

For one, I'm broke. Not completely broke, but broke enough to be reluctant on spending another $40 on another pair of Chucks. Second, they're my favorite pair of shoes! I've gone everywhere with them. From walking the happy hallways of high school to wandering around my university campus for the first time, I've had so many memories with them.

Ew. In my defense, I haven't worn them since they started looking like this!

Since I don't intend to walk around town in a pair of shoes that look like I've been attacked by an angry litter of shedding kittens, I decided to keep them and clean them til they're good as new! In case you want to try this at home, here's how I did it. (Also, here's a shout-out to my friend Hazel who gave me the nail polish remover trick!)

How to Clean Your Chucks

Materials needed:
-Nail polish remover
-Cotton balls
-Water
-Adhesive lint roller
-New laces (optional)
-Perfume/ air freshener

All you need.

 Procedure
1) Remove the laces.
2) Use the lint roller to remove cat hair (in my case) and dust from canvas.
3) Soak the cotton balls with nail polish remover and clean the white rubber parts. Use as many as needed. I think I used 4 or 5.
4) Clean the canvas with cotton balls and water.
5) Replace old laces with new ones. If you don't have a pair of new ones, just wash and bleach your old laces.
6) Spritz  the shoes with a bit of your favorite perfume or air freshener.
7) Step back and admire your job well done.

Ta-da! Not bad for a pair of 4 year-old shoes, right?

Well, that's it. Pretty simple. Hope it works for all of you!
