Rainy day trip to the bookstore

Today I decided to walk over to Green Apple Books on Clement with my friend Michelle. It's a new/used bookstore about 15-20 minutes away on foot. It was cloudy when we left and it started to rain a little. Then, it started to rain a lot. It rained harder and harder until the wind finally blew my cheap umbrella inside out.

By the time we got to the bookstore, we were completely soaked. There was about an inch of water in my shoe and my icy wet jeans were clinging to my legs.

It was a heavenly relief finally to walk into the warm and dry store. I picked up a couple of books. One of them is a favorite of mine: Einstein's Dreams by Alan Lightman, which is a collection of vignettes about alternate universes. Each universe has a different concept of time and space. For example, in one world, every person's life only lasts for a day. In other words, an entire lifetime is condensed into 24 hours. It's really interesting. The whole book is a fairly short read, but it got me to reevaluate and question my perception of  time.  I highly recommend it.

The other thing I bought was a Nancy Drew notepad of "Fold and Mail" Stationary. Basically it's a pad of stationary that you just fold and mail, without needing an envelope. I love writing letters, so this was too cute to resist. I can't wait to send a letter to someone. If you want one, just message me your address!

Luckily Biz, one of Michelle's friends, came to pick us up in her car so we wouldn't have to walk home. That was really nice of her. I'll admit though, Green Apple is always worth a trek in the rain!

P.S. Here's a picture of the cute puppy notebook Rebecca got me for my birthday. It has a couple of puppies playing chess. Love it!
