Random Conversations: Third graders on a bus
The other day I boarded the bus at Park Presidio and a class of third graders got on the bus too. They were chaperoned by a pair of teachers who were brave enough to take 20 hyper 8-year-olds on a field trip. The class took up the whole back section of the bus and they were reasonably well-behaved, but their voices got a little too loud at times.
Teacher: Why are we all shouting? We need to use our inside voices, like how Miranda and Suzanna are talking.
Boy whispering to his friend: Ants...They talk like ants.
Finally, the teacher announced that they were getting off at the next stop. As the children filed past my seat, I stopped one boy.
Me: Did you go on a field trip?
Boy: Yeah.
Me: Where did you go?
Boy: The DeYoung.
Me: Wow, that's cool. I love the DeYoung.
Boy: It sucked. The DeYoung sucks.
Me: Ok...
