Then and Now: My Resolutions in 2000 vs. 2009
It's that time of year. Self improvement time. I love New Year's resolutions because they give me a chance to look at my life and see where I can make it a little better.
I was looking through my old diaries and I found the very first one I wrote. Ever since I was ten years old, I've been writing resolutions in my diary on New Year's Eve. I would make a little time capsule page with my current address and age. It would also have my favorite movies, books, tv shows and food. After that I would list each month and the major events that happened in them during the past year. Then, I would move on to listing the resolutions I had set and accomplished the past year. Finally, I would write down my resolutions for the upcoming year.
Here's a comparison of my time capsule of 1999 vs. my time capsule of 2008.
Favorite Food:
1999- Macaroni and cheese
2008- Chicken katsu loco moco (Hawaiian fried chicken and egg over rice with gravy)
Favorite Shows:
1999- I Love Lucy, Boy Meets World
2008- House, Grey's Anatomy, Frasier, Pushing Daisies
Favorite Books:
1999- Number the Stars, Charlotte's Web
2008- North and South, Pride and Prejudice, And Then There Were None
School:
1999- Country Club Elementary
2008- University of San Francisco
And now, here are a few of my resolutions for 2000 and my resolutions for 2009.
New Year's Resolutions for 2000
At the same time, there are also some things that haven't really changed much. I should still try to be nicer to my sister. I still want to read more and I still love I Love Lucy. Plus, I practically live on Easy Mac in the dorms. I guess some things never change.
